The Nutt Hospital Trustees donate $10,000 to Harbor Homes’ Medical Respite Center

On 07/21/2017

The nonprofit agency Harbor Homes and member of the affiliated organizations that make up the Partnership for Successful Living, received a charitable gift of $10,000 from the Nutt Hospital Trustees for the agency’s Medical Respite Center and its integral role in the Nashua Safe Station program which addresses the opioid addiction epidemic facing the region. Peg Gilmour, President of the Nutt Hospital Trustees, along with Martha O’Neill (Clerk) and Frank Teas (Finance Committee member), presented a check to the Partnership’s CEO Peter Kelleher following the Nutt Trustees’ annual meeting in May where they voted to contribute to the naming campaign for the Medical Respite Center in Nashua.

“The Nutt Trustees are pleased to contribute to this important community facility.  As the only medical respite facility in NH, we know the role that this center plays in caring for those in the grips of Substance Use Disorder.  The current opioid crisis in NH has impacted all sectors of our society. Thus, all in our community must come together to work toward solutions and treatment. This contribution from the Nutt Trustees is our way of participating to provide needed medical respite” said Gilmour.

The Nutt Hospital was established in 1916 by Nashua resident Charles H. Nutt for the “purpose of establishing and maintaining a place in said City of Nashua for the treatment and the care of the indigent sick and lame….” Originally the Nutt Hospital was the surgical wing of Memorial Hospital, now Southern NH Medical Center.  In recent years, the Trustees of the fund have assisted with organizations and health related projects by granting money that will promote health and foster care for those in need.
