Rivier University Students Volunteer at Harbor Homes

On 04/22/2013

On Saturday, April 9th, nine Rivier University students came into Harbor Homes‘ Maple Arms Shelter to clean, sort and file.

It was all part of the Rivier Freshman Day of Service, in which all 300-plus freshmen in the Rivier Community entered the Nashua Community to help local non-profits and the people they serve. The even was a sweeping success, particularly from the stand-point of Harbor Homes. At the shelter, the students removed abandoned items, sorted the food pantry and produced intake packets.

All the staff at Maple Street was overwhelmed by the cheerful generosity of the students, who were bubbling with personality and enthusiasm. One of the student s was even able to use skills she had obtained at Market Basket to reassemble boxes for the food pantry.

We earnestly thank all of the students from Rivier as well as the administration for setting this day up. We hope that similar service days continue for years to come.
