Milford Regional Counseling Services & Harbor Homes Benefit from a Day of Caring

On 10/12/2012

On September 11, 2012 United Way held their annual Day of Caring. The Day of Caring is a national campaign in which volunteers from businesses, churches, schools, hospitals and more, get involved in much-needed community service projects . In Greater Nashua, this year’s campaign allowed volunteers from BAEPeople’s United Bank and the Southern New Hampshire Medical Center to come into two of our Partnership agencies to spread the joy of caring.

Maple Street Emergency Shelter of Harbor Homes was helped with the installation of shelving in our guests’ closets, which has allowed them to store personal belongings in a more organized way. Volunteers also cleaned the walls of one room in Maple Street that had been smoked-damaged. Residents were very appreciative of the community service work done by United Way’s volunteers, and loved the new shelves and clean walls.

Milford Regional Counseling Services benefited from the Day of Caring as well. In addition to weeding and trimming the bushes, volunteers planted beautiful beds of mums (generously donated by Amherst Garden Center) in front of the building — which will be seen by thousands who drive by this location.

Harbor Homes and Milford Regional Counseling Services would like to extend a big thank you to both Jack’s Pizza and Foodies for donating  lunch.

We also cannot thank enough the volunteers and donors of the Day of Caring. Your generous gifts of hard-work and caring will benefit our clients and staff for years to come.
