Project Homeless Connect was a Great Success
POSTED ON December 19th BY PartnershipTeam

On behalf of the Greater Nashua Continuum of Care, we would like to thank everyone involved with the 2012 Project Homeless Connect. Hosted in Welcoming Light’s Training Institute, over 80 people attended and received information on housing, social services and health care. 18 children benefited from the event as well. The majority of people that attended were currently homeless, living on the street or living in a house and soon to be homeless. Several agencies have followed up with clients that needed immediate assistance, and at least one person has been connected with a transitional housing program. Overall, 32 agencies participated in the event, including several stylists who cut hair, and dozens of volunteers from Rivier University who helped organize donations and the lunch.     Thank you to everyone who made this event possible! FREE, Confidential HIV Testing
POSTED ON December 17th BY PartnershipTeam

Through grant funding from the Kent Richard Hofmann Foundation, the Southern New Hampshire HIV/AIDS Task Force is now able to provide free, confidential HIV testing to any community member seeking to know their HIV status. The Southern New Hampshire HIV/AIDS Task Force believes that EVERYONE should know their status. Previous funding sources required a person to fall into a certain demographic or risk category in order to qualify for free HIV testing,  this is the first time we have ever had the opportunity to provide HIV testing for all. HIV tests are performed using the Oraquick rapid result oral swab, with preliminary results available within 20 minutes. Positive results will require a follow up test using the Orasure collection device which is sent to a lab for confirmatory results. HIV testing is available by appointment only. Please call Jean at 603-595-8464 ext 19 to schedule an MORE >

St. Joseph’s Hospital ‘Pays it Forward’ with Social Media
POSTED ON December 13th BY PartnershipTeam

In 2012 St. Joseph’s hospital is partnering up with a local non-profit each month with the goal of providing the selected non-profit with a monetary donation. For the final month of the year, St. Joseph’s has picked Harbor Homes to participate in their Facebook Fundraiser. This is how it works… In the month of December, St. Joseph’s Hospital will donate one dollar to Harbor Homes for every new “like” they receive on their Facebook page. That means the more people that “like” the page, the more money we could raise for Harbor Homes. Even if 100 people participate in this fundraiser, Harbor Homes will get a one hundred dollar donation. So Please, “like” the St. Joseph’s Facebook page and share with all your friends and family!        MORE >
