Community Involvement Required for ‘Stand Down’ Success

The transition from a soldier in combat to a civilian in an urban American city is often a difficult one.  That’s why on Thursday, September 27 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Harbor Homes, Inc. will sponsor a Stand Down for homeless veterans at their main office at 45 High Street in Nashua. In 2011, there were over 67,000 homeless veterans around the country. Harbor Homes, Inc., along with the VA (Veterans Affairs) and a grant from the Department of Labor, are putting together the Stand Down to combat this societal problem. A Stand Down is an event to give homeless veterans both short and long-term assistance and resources, including food, clothing, haircuts, employment counseling, and legal and medical advice. A successful Stand Down requires months of preparation, hundreds of donations and the generosity of the entire community. It is critical for community members to get MORE >
Substance Abuse & Risky Sexual Behaviors

The Infographic below is depicting a very alarming trend amongst teens and young adults. Most of them are engaging in sexual activities while under the influence of drugs and alcohol leading to dangerous consequences. There are now as many as 15,000,000 new cases of STDs in The United States alone. If you are a young adult or a parent of a teen dealing with the struggles of substance use or the consequences of risky sexual behaviors then the Partnership for Successful Living can help. Keystone Hall and The Southern New Hampshire HIV/AIDS Task Force both have programs that work with clients who need guidance and support. Keystone Hall can offer adolescents an intensive outpatient program that will help with the struggles of substance use or alcoholism.
